Seawind achieved a Grammy nomination in the category Best Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s) in 1978 for the song The Devil Is a Liar.[3]

A notable part of the band's sound was the "Seawind Horns" (trumpeter Jerry Hey, sax and flute player Kim Hutchcroft, and sax, flute and keyboard player Larry Williams), who went on to provide backing instrumentals and arrangements for performers such as Earth, Wind & Fire(EWF), George Benson, Thriller, Off the Wall and Bad etc
Hey left Seawind as a touring member in 1979 but continued as a recording member of the band through 1980. Trumpeter Larry Hall, an original member of the band when they were called "OX",[4] rejoined the group in 2005. Hey and Hall are longtime friends and both are top-call recording session musicians.

The band released the single "Gotta Be Willing To Lose" under the band name Ox[1] on Warped Records . To avoid possible legal issues with religious namr John and Michael band,
who was called Ox as well, they decided to rename the band to Seawind.[1] The first single under the band name Seawind "One Sweet Night" was released 1977 on CTI records. When the act signed with A&M, they released in 1980 "The Two Of Us" as their second single, followed by the single called populous "What Cha Doin'",[5] which became a modest hit on Billboard's Disco/Dance Chart in November 1980, peaking at number 28.[6]

In 1981, Bob & Pauline Wilson released a contemporary Christian music album, Somebody Loves You, which, although technically not a Seawind album, features the same trademark sound with the same musicians and vocalists. Seawind broke up in 1982, but reunited in 2005 for a Los Angeles concert performance and then began work on a new CD, which took them over three years to complete. After the breaking up of Seawind in 1982 Pauline Wilson went on and recorded 3 solo records including contributions by some of the former band members from Seawind: Intuition in 1992, Only You in 1997 and Tribute in 2001. Pauline Wilson is the first vocalist from Hawaii to win a Grammy award (Peak chart positions, singing a duet with George Benson on the album In Harmony – A Sesame Street Record, which won Grammy Award for Best Album for Children in 1980).[7]

In 1995, a Seawind compilation CD Remember was released on Noteworthy Records. Remember includes five tracks recorded during sessions for their never-completed fifth album. Seawind's 2009 CD Reunion was released on Village Records, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment Japan.

The Seawind is a family of composite, four-seat, amphibian airplanes that all feature a single tail-mounted engine. They have been produced as kits and were at one time under development to be sold as completed aircraft.

The Seawind design originated in Canada, where the prototype flew for the first time on 23 August 1982. Later development and production was carried out by Seawind International of Haliburton, Ontario, Canada, before the rights were acquired by SNA and production moved to Kimberton, Pennsylvania, United States. The major production versions of the Seawind line consist of the kit-built Seawind2000 and Seawind3000 and the Seawind300C that was under development by Seawind LLC, also of Kimberton, Pennsylvania. The Seawind 3000 was introduced in 1993.

Production of Seawind 3000 kits was suspended in 2002 to concentrate on certification of the 300C and the kits are no longer available.[1]

The Seawind 300C was intended to be the certified production version, derived from the kit-built Seawind 3000. It incorporated many changes required to conform to the certification standards. The company indicated that certification flight testing would continue after the crash of the prototype on August 16, 2007, but did not actually resume until early 2010. Certification flight testing continued through the summer and autumn of 2011, but by the end of 2020 the company website had been taken down and the company seems to have ceased business.[2][3]
